How it works

Step One

Contact us to schedule a free trial lesson.

We will work with you to determine an available time slot and schedule a trial lesson with the teacher of your choice. This is to ensure the student is comfortable with the teacher and that the teacher can meet their needs and musical goals.

Lessons can be in-person or virtual. There is no cost to schedule a trial lesson and no obligation to continue lessons.

Step Two

Complete your trial lesson and reserve your lesson time slot.

After the trial lesson, we will hold that same time slot for seven days to allow you to confirm and submit the required lesson contract paperwork to continue lessons.

Step Three

Begin your private lessons at Maple Avenue Fine Arts Academy!

Once confirmed, the lesson schedule and billing invoice email will be sent. Lessons continue according to the schedule and are billed monthly.

Cancellation of private lessons can be requested in writing with a 2-week notice.

Frequently asked questions

All styles and all genres! We LOVE music and we want you to LOVE music too — we are not restricted to one single pedagogical approach. Lessons are catered to the individual students’ interest and goals. There are as many pathways to learning an instrument and to virtuosity as there are students who walk through our doors.

Our musical fundamentals are rooted in the traditional classical repertoire. We specialize in jazz, the American songbook, and everything else in between!

Private lessons occur once a week. We offer 30-minute and 60-minute sessions.

Maple Avenue Fine Arts Academy is solely a private music instruction studio. We do not rent or sell musical instruments, however, we can point you in the right direction. Please do not hesitate to ask!

Maple Avenue Fine Arts Academy is a nurturing and engaging place for our young musician to flourish. Shaun is the best — responsive, flexible, yet also asking for a student's best (and getting it!). Going to the studio feels like joining a community where respect, appreciation, effort and love of the arts surround you. Highly recommend!

Shaun is the best music instructor for kids of all ages I have ever met (and I've met quite a few)! He is equally talented at patiently working with children as he is at teaching the technical side of the bass. His positive energy is shared with the student and keeps them interested and having fun while learning.

Love, Love, Love the instructors here. Extremely friendly, kind and patient. Their new location is nice, but I can't say enough about the staff. Mr. Mason and his approach to teaching my young son the drums has been wonderful. Mr. Jurek is always welcoming and great with whom to have a conversation. They make you feel like you are part of the family instead of a face at a school.

Not only is Shaun a very talented musician and teacher, but he’s also been a very positive and motivating person in my life. He constantly encourages me to try my best and supports my goals in every way possible.

Shaun is a good listener; he always has a plan and extra energy to motivate you to play even when you don’t feel it that day. He finds ways to make you enjoy playing and you always end up leaving his class happy and inspired to play more.

I like having lessons because Mr. Shaun makes it super fun.

We are so lucky to have this gem of a music studio in Vienna! My daughter’s cello lesson with Shaun is the highlight of her week; she wishes she could come twice a week. The studio is beautiful and well run as far as payments and scheduling go... but most importantly, the teachers bring great energy and positivity to the time spent with the students— everyone should have a musical education like this!

We love our lessons with Shaun!! He has taught my son bass and guitar since 2019 — through COVID — and now in person. Shaun is so enthusiastic and energetic about his craft. He is great about finding a way to connect with each student. He also teaches my nephews and is wonderful with younger students as well. If you’re looking for a place to fall in love with music, you’ve found it!!

Shaun has been a wonderful influence and teacher for our son with ADHD over the last five years, teaching him cello for his school's advanced orchestra and improv jazz on guitar.

Pleasant ambiance, great instructors.

Shaun has been our daughter’s bass teacher for five years. He has inspired her to achieve state and regional honors in both jazz and classical bass.

Shaun makes learning the double bass easier. He’s a lot of fun to work with he also inspired me to play the bass guitar.

Shaun has taught our children for 5 years on bass, cello, and guitar. His consistent positive supportive demeanor has kept our children motivated — especially helpful during the covid and online education era.

Shaun is the best teacher I’ve ever had.

We LOVE Maple Avenue Fine Arts Academy!! Shaun and Aurora are so friendly and welcoming, and you can tell that they put so much love and effort into everything they do (um hello, Studio Ghibli float at the Halloween parade?!) This is an amazing place for any young musician to grow and such a fun community to be apart of! Highly recommend!
